The landscape has been overrun by a thick, deadly fog that manifests the nightmares of those inside it. Your survival depends on tactical planning and careful resource management.As the Engineer, you'll need to rescue survivors, analyse their dreams and build defenses to protect them from their own imaginations. Complicating matters, passengers have their own theories as to how the fog was created and will form inter-carriage factions based on their beliefs.Every game is unique and you can customise your Engineer to dramatically change how the game is played.Your passengers bring their nightmares with them. When the fog attacks, it will make their worst fears come alive. Read your passengers’ dream logs to help prepare defenses.The train needs resources and there's only one way to get them: send your passengers back out into the fog. Listen to radio broadcasts for hints and equip your scavengers well. But don’t stay too long because they’ll disappear into the fog.Passengers will group into four factions based on where they think the fog came from. Different factions are associated with different nightmares, skills and concerns. You’ll need to maximise their talents, handle their disputes and meet their needs.Create your own Engineer with special modifiers - both good and bad - that determine your individual train's starting conditions, overall difficulty and the different courses the game can take. Personalise your Engineer further by importing photos of yourself (or others) for use with your character.Populate your train with passengers of your own design using the custom passenger creator. Name, vital statistics, occupation, factional tendencies and influence can all be modified. As with Engineer customisation, you can import photos from outside the game to give each passenger a life of their own.Explore a richly detailed 3D cabin and interact with computers, train controls, maps and consoles. I want to first state that I appreciate Screwfly's commitment to making unusual games, with unusual game mechanics.Sadly, I don't feel the game is, well, fun. I'd just rather be playing something else. There's a level of abtruseness to some aspects of the design that would take a lot of time and effort to learn how to use correctly, and the game just isn't fun enough to warrant that time investment. I can't recommend it, at least not to people like myself. I think there is a niche here, so if you want to try a really original game design, or if you just want to support developers who are willing to try new things, give the game a play.. this game is broken. every single time i send some out to scavenge, (if you even get that far) they die and theres absolutly noting you can do about it. this game is not worth the money, trust me this game should be worth 5 bucks. its not just this game, zafehouse is terrible too (you cant even save in zafehouse) they make cheap games and drive up the price. ive seen better flash games. dont buy.. I adore what I've played of this game. It takes time to understand what some of the elements in the game mean, they could be better described, but it's refreshing. There's a few small things I'd enjoy to see added, though.A date and time in the top left. It's irritating having to switch between the notebook and the sections of the train just to check the current time.Being able to set priorities. I normally stack up a few things for the passengers to do so they're never left idle, but this becomes a problem when one thing always has priority.A slight bit more interactivity with the environment. This is just a small thing, but I'd like to be able to turn off the lights in my bed area, or set the timer on the computer for no reason, or just to turn the radio off.Different views for the modifiers in custom mode. Flicking through the cards is nice to do for a while, but it becomes a pain finding what you want with a limited view of them.Still a fantastic game though, and I'd recommend it if you enjoy the idea of being behind the scenes of a train while escaping from creepy horror fog.. Such an incredible game nothing else like it out there. With 100 custom passngers you can make and find is amazing! So worth the money and an experience you will never forget.. Fear Equation is a micro-managment turn based game. You are a conductor on a train that is one of the only sanctuaries of a fog that's covered the city. This fog is dangerous, and manifests itself into the nightmares people have. Your job is to get as many people out in your train as possible. The premise is simple, but while playing you will discover there are a LOT of moving parts. There's a lot to read, learn, and keep track of. Each passenger you pick up has their own opinions about you, their fellow passengers, and even the fog. Keeping them docile is important. You have to make sure they don't hate you or they will revolt. Also make sure they don't like you too much, or they will kill everyone who hates you. Outside the train is just as dangerous. There is the military that will shoot anything that moves and the fearless, who believe they are allies to the fog. You encounter these when you send passengers out for supplies.As difficult as the game might sound, there is a lot of options for customizing your train ride out of the fog. You can mix and match different perks that help or hurt you, and you can make custom passengers with their own skills. As an added bonus, you can hook Twitch chat up to the game and make the viewers passengers on the train. So together, it's a really fun game although difficult at first. There is a lot of options to make it easier if you want as well.. I Love Management Games, but this one i just can NOT play. It runs good, it has good graphics. But the gameplay is just wonky and strange.Unless i am an idiot (Prob am) it does not tell you how to upgrade your trains fuel or Structural integrity and also does not tell you how to move passengers to another car. It does have a spooky atmosphere though and i do like that. The other thing is the movement, it seems delayed, which would be no big deal if the tutorials tought you more.Pros: Good Graphics, Cool Concept, Management Sim.Cons: Minimal Tutorial system makes it very confusing by only telling you basics.Confusion Confusion Confusion.The tutorial is the only thing this game needs more of, If it would teach you how to do more things i would play it more. (I have read all the notes i have found and i still don't know how to play the game fully, been on 2 scavenge runs and stopped on the 3rd.) Is it worth it? If you want to "Try" to learn the more advanced mechanics then be my guest. If you are looking for quick fun than stay away from this.I have applied for a refund on this, Maybe if it's better in the future i'll buy it. But at the moment i just can't be bothered to play it.Sorry dev's, no hard feelings though.(Do not hate me because my Opinion is Different than your's, Everyone has one, I'm just voicing mine.)
